How long does my message stay on this site?

Dear Fodor's,
how long does my message stay here? Should I check within 24 hours - when do you wipe it off?

Sheila Jan 19th, 2003 02:21 AM

Mandy

If you want to ask Fodors something, email them. They generally don't reply to posts.

The answer to your question is, that if it doesn't get deleted for rudeness it stays for ever. It just migrates downwards. At the moment there are about 400-600 active threads a day, so if you post a question and no-one answers you will be 8-12 pages back 24 hours later. Every time it's answered it will go back to the top.

Sometimes it's busier than that and sometimes it's less busy. It's usually quite quiet at the week end presumably because most folk access the Internet from work.

topping, for Mandy
What's this topping bit? If Mandy wanted more info, she should top it herself.

Topping without a reason is not fair to others who post new messages and want theirs to be seen.

they can Jan 20th, 2003 08:39 AM

they can top theirs too
mpprh Jan 20th, 2003 11:25 AM

Hi

it stays at the top as long as people reply.

then it seems to descend into a life hereafter, unless someone tops it

Peter
What is this topping business? I don't know how to do it - is that what you do if you want your question to remain at the top? If so how do you do it? I find this site fantastically helpful!!

You just did it, Mandy. Any message you add to a thread, brings it back up to the top.

Even if you just say "top".
