How is Wes?

Hello,
I have been away from this site for a while and was wondering if anyone knew how Wes Fowler was? I know his surgery went okay but did the recovery go okay and is he back on Fodor's now?

I haven't heard anything -- and I share everyone's concern.

If you are out there Wes, I Pray all the best for you, May The Lord bless you and watch over you. I hope to see you back here soon. I'm sure there's many of us at Fodor's who miss your wonderful advise. I sure do! Get well fast. Alice

kavey Oct 10th, 2002 08:23 AM

No, I am sorry, I don't know. I don't know Wes and haven't had the pleasure of corresponding with him about travel as many here have.

I do hope he is recovering well.

Kavey

topping. any news? any posts? any correspondence off the board from wes or family members?
Zeus Mar 29th, 2003 04:39 AM

Aw, c'mon Wes... Talk to us...I know the registration thing is a PITA, but we need to hear from you. We miss you. So much so that I've begun quoting from your old replies. It's kind of like your part of Fodor's Bible... "I'm quoting from Fowler 2:16...'and lo there was a Gasthof in Hohenfurch...'".

ec Mar 29th, 2003 06:42 PM

I believe Wes passed away the end of Oct. 2002. If I remember correctly there was a post re this at about that time.

Betsy Mar 29th, 2003 07:01 PM

ec, I would caution you to be careful about posting if you're not absolutely sure. I put Wes' name into the Text Search box and, after reading through a few of the many messages that came up, found that he last posted on 11-18-2002.

I also remember that he posted shortly after he got home from the hospital, though I didn't see those posts. Maybe someone who knows the search function better than I can come up with more definitive info. His daughter posted some of Wes' intineraries in July of 2002.

I sure miss him. I hope someone will fill us in soon.

ec Mar 29th, 2003 07:11 PM

You're right Betsy and I apologize.

Betsy Mar 29th, 2003 07:22 PM

With a little more searching, I found this post by Wes entitled, "Fowler, not Lazarus, rises from the depths." It was posted 10-29-02:

http://www.fodors.com/forums/pgMessa...ext=Wes+Fowler

Deepa Mar 29th, 2003 07:29 PM

Hello,
I started this post originally and I just wanted everyone to know that I received an email from Wes about a month ago so he is fine.

I think ec may be confusing with the passing of Ed last year.

God bless us all. Times are really depressing. Here in HongKong, you see people walking around with masks and things just seem to be getting worse with the virus. And then the war....

Hoping and praying for happier times..

Beatchick Mar 29th, 2003 08:07 PM

I've been worrying over Wes for the past hour now, searching thru his posts trying to find the last one (I must not be very good using the search function). Anyway, I'm happy to read that he's okay. I wish I could e-mail him but I couldn't find an e-mail address for him.

Deepa, if you feel comfortable e-mailing Wes again, do you mind doing so just to let us know? Thank you.

Deepa Mar 30th, 2003 03:34 PM

For Beatchick and others,

I'm afraid the news on Wes is not good. His health has declined greatly in the past few weeks and he has not been on the computer for the past few months. The email I had recieved last month was from his wife who was the one who replied to my email yesterday.

Lets hope and pray that he does not have to endure much pain.

Deepa
Cassandra Mar 30th, 2003 05:47 PM

So very very sorry to hear this. I hope he and his wife know how far and wide he touched and made new friends.

cigalechanta Mar 30th, 2003 06:21 PM

To Wes And his wife, We are all here thinking wonderful thoughts for him for recovery, and this is from a group who respected him.

Beatchick Mar 30th, 2003 07:01 PM

Deepa,

Might there be someplace (generic address, of course, such as a hospital or other type of business address) where we might send well-wishing cards?

Wes & Mrs. Fowler, if you see this, just wanted to let you I am thinking of you and you are both in my heart.

WishIwasthere Mar 31st, 2003 01:41 AM

I too send best wishes to Mr. and Mrs. Fowler and family. Please know you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Marge Mar 31st, 2003 05:36 AM

I'm so sorry. I certainly appreciate all the efforts he's made in posting advice. Such a thoughtful person. Just want the Fowlers to know your in my thoughts.
Best, Marge
