I am awaiting a response from Hotel Valadon. We will indeed be there at the same time. I will be in Paris from May 14th-20th. May I ask, how did you reserve your room? I tried to click on the link they sent me via e-mail, but was blocked for security reasons.

Elcon, that's great. We will be there May 17-20! I used the booking request on their site. It took a few days before I heard back from her. You can also call them. I talked to a lady at the reception and she spoke English very well. We'll have to meet up!

We stayed at the Valadon for 3 or 4 days in May 2008 and loved both the hotel and its wonderfully friendly owners. It's on a fairly quiet street, which I appreciate because I like to get a good night's sleep when traveling. Everything is easily accessible by foot or Metro, there are bakeries, fruit markets, restaurants (decent ones, even!) and grocery stores in the neighborhood.

Thanks flsd! That sounds great. The last time we stayed in Paris our double doors opened up onto a busy street and it was a cacophony of tires screeching, engines roaring, horns honking all the night long. Weirdly, we were so tired we slept through it all. :-) But it's good to hear from someone who has stayed there. Which room did you have?

I just found this thread again and wanted to report that we ended up booking the Hotel Muguet instead. I had read some comparisons and changed my booking. The Muguet was fine, very small rooms, but a nice vibe and comfortable reception with a computer, leather couches and breakfast area. The location was very near Rue Cler which we enjoyed very much (a 5 minute walk) and we were there often. But best of all, just around the corner was Le Florimond, where we enjoyed some of the best meals of our lives at a very reasonable price. At some point in my walks around the area I stumbled across the Valadon. I was SO relieved we had opted for the Muguet instead! I just didn't have a good impression walking by. First of all, the street was completely nondescript and deserted. In the tiny front lobby sat an older man at a reception desk, must have been the owner. The whole thing didn't strike me very well. Quite a difference from the Muguet. Just my opinion, it might have been fine if we had stayed there. I'm just glad we didn't.

As I recall, the Valadon was much closer to the Rue Cler than 5 minutes. It also had internet, a nice breakfast area - including a refrigerator available for guests who might make some purchases from the various food markets - and two very lovely hosts. Nevertheless, if you enjoyed the Muguet, that's great. We were very pleased with the Valadon. First impressions can be deceiving, keep in mind.

We just got back from a 4 day stay at the Hotel Valadon. It is a GREAT place to stay! We prefer to stay at local-type accommodation and this was perfect. It is a B&B in a terrific location. Hosts are very helpful. Chriselle, the receptionist, carried my 55 lbs. suitcase (via TINY elevator) up to our room on the 3rd floor (which is actually the 4th floor)! Jams & jellies made by the owner are specially sealed & easily packed into suitcases (US customs xrayed the suitcase & it passed right thru). The laundromat on the corner was convenient & easy to use. We recommend the Greek restaurant on Rue Cler--terrific crepes!!
