How hot will the Church be in Ravello?

My daughter plans to wear a traditional wedding dress for her wedding in Ravello next June! Will the heat in the Church be unbearable? I am assuming there is no air conditioning. Any summer Italian brides out there? We would appreciate your comments.

I forgot to mention that we have a wedding planner and plan to ask her too, but would like to hear from someone that has done it.

You're right, the church won't be air-conditioned but it shouldn't be too uncomfortable. Is she getting married in the Duomo of Ravello? Last July, my husband and I went into that church for the Mass in honor of Ravello's patron saint. It was nearly 90 degrees outside, and the church was packed with people. Still, the thick walls managed to keep it fairly comfortable.

Don't know about the church, but it will definately be hot.
I'm getting married in Venice next year, my dress is strapless, but with a lace balero jacket for the service, the fabric is a very light weight organza.
I'm not sure how traditional your daughter's dress is, but a short sleave dress out of a light weight fabric would be ideal, she can wear a jacket or cover for the service if she wants to be more conservative.
Many happy wishes to your daughter

Hi WT,
It will be nice & cool in the Duomo
in Ravello, and as you know there is
plenty of shade to be had in the
Gardens of Cimbrone or Ruffolo. You
should get some great Photographs.

Thanks everyone! At least we won't have to worry about melting in the Church! We are considering the San Giovanni Church in Ravello because we are only having apx. 15-25 guests. The Duomo is so big! But we are having difficulty finding good photos of San Giovanni. I put out another question for photos and information on San Giovanni. If you can help, we would really appreciate it. Congratulations to you too Fluffy!
