Bellairegirl must have been in Paris at the same time I was last year--Monday June 17th had record temps--95 degrees; when we left on Thursday, it was rainy and cool, and temps had dropped over 30 degrees! I travel with a little oscillating fan from Brookstone, both for the air movement and for the "white noise" that the fan provides.

Seamus,<BR><BR>I'm in the Dutch West Indies now (for ten years), but still make it back to Houston about once a year to see my family. It really is a small world, huh? There are also a lot of Houstonians where I presently live.<BR><BR>I hope Venice and Florence aren't going to be hotter than Houston in July. I am planning on hot, but certainly not that special Houston kind of heat!<BR><BR>

Italy gets hot in July--Florence is one of the hottest areas. Often (but not always) it is a dry heat which means it doesn't feel as uncomfortable as humid heat, but it is still hot. Of course, that dry heat is very, very dangerous--because it doesn't feel as uncomfortable, people who aren't used to it will run around like total fools until they collapse from heat exhaustion with little warning. Having lived in west Texas and New Mexico with that dry heat for many years, I urge anyone who is &quot;enjoying&quot; the dry heat somewhere to be very careful.

To Barb_in_Ga: that was exactly when we were in Paris! It was still worth it.<BR><BR>On my next trip, I know it won't be hot. We're traveling to London in March. (And it will probably be gorgeous weather then in Houston.)

Any opinions on La Relais St. Jacques or Hotel de Fleurie? Please?

Hotel Le Regent is a great choice. It's a block from the Seine, a block from the metro, a few blocks from the Louvre and a block from Blvd. Saint Germain. The hotel has A/C, modern bathrooms and some rooms have balconies. Cafes abound in the area. It's 122 Euro and 183 Euro, single and double respectively. It's in the 6th bordering on the 5th.
