How far to walk from Maiden Ln to County Hall?

I've looked it up on a map, but that assumes you are driving. How long would it normally take to walk from Maiden Lane to County Hall?

How often do we have to tell you lot: you have to be specific about these things.

Do you have the faintest idea how many Maiden Lanes there are in London alone?

Which Maiden Lane do you mean?

addisonr Sep 14th, 2007 07:17 AM

The one near Bedford St. And no, I did not know there was more than one Maiden Lane in London. We don't do such foolish things where I live.

So you're talking about London then? London, England? It would be helpful if you would narrow your question down by country and city. Europe is a big place.

I rather thought the obvious would turn out to be the case! I would allow a good half hour, though it could well take less.

Down to the Strand, along to Charing Cross and over the Hungerford footbridges to the South Bank.

OK Flunneruk, give us the location of each one. My EyeWitness Guide to London gives only one Maiden Lane and that is the one between Southhampton street and Bedford street, near the Adelphi Theatre and of course at number 35,the famous Rules Restaurant.

As for you Cheryllj - anyone intelligent would automatically know Maiden Lane and County Hall meant LONDON!

Hi A,

You can find the walking distance at www.viamichelin.com.

Click "options" and "on foot".

tod: Well my A to Z lists three Maiden Lanes plus other Places, Roads etc.

Perhaps you need a better map - or at least understand you don't know London very well.

There's also a Maiden Lane in San Francisco, CA.

Thank you Janis for stepping up to the plate on behalf of my question to Flunneruk. No, I was not looking at a map only my travel guide as I said, and yes you are perfectly right dear heart, I don't know London very well even after 10 visits.

Then you might want to know there is a Maiden Lane very close to Southwark Cathedral/Borough Market which is also walking distance from County Hall.

Play nice.

www.streetmap.co.uk gives 13 Maiden Lanes in the UK of which 3 are in London - near London Bridge Station, in The Strand and one just north of Kings Cross. ALL of them are walkable fromcounty Hall

As for "We don't do such foolish things where I live." you probably find that you do if you realised that London is not a city but an urban area comprising 2 cities and 31 self governing boroughs

I once directed a cabbie to a shop on Church St. Ha, ha. There must be at least a half dozen in London.

alanRow Sep 19th, 2007 01:14 PM

TfL website gives 16 "Church Streets" of which 7 are in London proper.

Interestingly none of them seem to be "South of the Thames"
