How far is London from Dover?

We're staying at the Tower Thistle in London and have a transfer to Dover from the hotel included in our pre-cruise package.

I have never been to London/Dover and am curious how far/long time wise it is to Dover.

Thanks very much.

Dover is 77 miles from London and according to viamichelin 1.5 hours. Of course, traveling in central London could be very slow.

Trains leave Waterloo at the rate of 2 or 3 per hour all day, with 1:43 to 2:19 enroute. You can check schedules for any European city pair at

Since the Tower Thistle is part of the cruise package -- doesn't the cruise line offer transfers from London to the Dover docks?? Most packages do.

If not, then Robespierre has given you good info re the trains.
