I need some hel with logistics of our flight home this Su dat.

When we left from Boston, Alitalia recommended we arrive 3 hours before our flight leaving Boston, but Venice B&B owner is saying 2 hours is enough when leaving from VCE to Boston.

6 of us have to check bags, so do you know if we should allow more than 2 hours? Our flight stops in Rome for a few hours, if that makes a difference.

As your first flight is to Rome, which is domestic (then connecting to Boston), 2 hrs should be fine.

Are you sure it is only the plane that "stops in Rome" instead of you having to change planes?

If VCE-FCO flight is AZ1464, it is usually an Airbus 320. This kind of plane is totally incapable of doing a transatlantic flight from FCO.

If your FCO-BOS is AZ614, it is usually a much larger long distance capable Airbus 330.

If this is the case, VCE departure is a domestic flight. The time consuming part waits you at FCO. Flights into US usually involves a lengthy security process.

Two hours should be plenty for the domestic flight. In Rome, transit passengers remain behind security, and that usually goes very smoothly. There will be some additional security at the departure gate, but I've made this connection many times in around an hour.

I agree. You should be able to do it in an hour. Give yourself 90 minutes to be sure.

Thanks everyone. Yes, 2 hours was more than enough - especially since Alitalia staff didn't even arrive until 8am -- 2 hours before our flight. And Security was very fast. Quite different than other cities I've had experience with in Europe.

Very helpful- we were able to sleep a bit later ; )
