How does this Paris itinerary sound?
 

Hi, Thank you, everyone, for all of your insights. I have been reading quite a bit from this forum and we are very close to our trip to Paris. I have listed our itinerary (staying in the 7eme) and would like to know if you think that we should do more or less each day. Obviously, the weather and possible distractions may change our plans. After all it is an adventure! TIA for any help or comments you might have.

Friday am: FLYING IN, getting to apartment
pm: buy groceries, museum passes, carnets, stroll the 7th, lunch Champ de Mars, Eiffel tower at dusk, Bon Marche pick up dinner

Saturday am: Eiffel tower morning, wander Trocadero, bicycle tour
pm: Arc de Triomphe, Champ Elysees, Angelina for hot chocolate

Sunday am: Notre Dame (maybe services), St. Chapelle, La Conciergerie
pm: walk around Ile de la Cite, boat cruise, Palais de Justice, Berthillion for ice cream, Samaritaine

Monday am: Montemarte, Sacre Coeur
pm: Opera Garnier, wander around various passages, Madeleine

Tuesday am: Invalides, Musee Rodin, Wander over to Latin Quarter,
pm: Jardin du Luxembourg (lunch?), Pantheon, rue Mouffetard

Wednesday am: Galleries Lafayete, Printemps
pm: Jardin des Tuileries (lunch), Louvre (open til 9:45)

Thursday am: Centre Pompidou, wander Marais
pm: Place des Vosges (lunch), maybe Pere Lachaise, Musee d'Orsay (open til 9:45) , whatever we might have missed

Friday am: Back home 8^(

As long as you've been in some flexibility in your thinking as you planned, you'll be okay. I say that because you've scheduled pretty full days....and life doesn't always go as planned!
PS: You'll never squeeze in Pere Lachaise Cemetery on Thursday!

Looks like a very good itinerary. Some suggestions:

Go to rue Mouffetard on Sunday morning before Notre Dame. There's a market which you'll miss if you go in the afternoon. The market is better on the weekend than weekdays - more vendors selling food. It's about a 10-15 minute walk from Notre Dame.

If you don't change your schedule and stick to rue Mouffetard on Tuesday afternoon, then take 2 diversions - the remains of the 1st century Roman arena and the Mosque (Sat - Thurs 9-12 and 2-6). Both very close to rue Mouffetard.

Behind Notre Dame is the Deportation Memorial, dedicated to French Holocaust victims. Very moving. It's open 9-12 and 2-7.

While you're at the Pantheon stop in the church next to it - St-Etienne-du-Mont with its beautiful rood screen (screen separating the chancel and nave). It's the only one left in Paris. This church's relique is the finger of Ste-Genevieve, the patron saint of Paris (located in the same chapel with her tomb).

You have to go to Angelina's for hot chocolate. It is like drinking hot chocolate pudding with fresh whipped cream. At Galleries Lafayette they have a free fashion show on Tuesday's I think and maybe Friday. My sister and I emailed them for a reservation. They served us free drinks and snacks. It was an enjoyable hour show and then we shopped.
Make sure you hit Napoleon's apartments in the Louvre. It is a well kept secret and friends saw it and said its fabulous. Definitely do the boat ride and its a good way to rest your feet.
Remember you will not see everything but just go with the flow and you will have a great trip!

HowardR: That's why I have a maybe on the cemetary. But who knows we might replace it with something else. Adrienne: wow, thank you for your suggestions, I'll keep a lookout for the arena and stop at the Deportation Memorial. There's just so many wonderful places to go and items to see. Sunshine: we've got Angelina penciled in on Saturday afternoon. We leave in 5 days and the weather forcast is calling for showers the first couple of days. Umbrellas are packed !

The Arenes de Lutece (a 1C amphitheatre and second most important Gallo-Roman site in Paris) is on Rue Monge near the Cardinal Lemoine metro stop (line 10).

Is La Samaritaine open on Sunday? It wasn't the last time I was in Paris in October.

Many of the places you have selected don't need the museum pass, and the pass is good only for a certain period once you first use it, so I would suggest you arrange your schedule to get all the museum pass activities within consecutive days. I know there is a five day pass, but I think there are also passes for shorter periods, for less.

Also, if you like impressionist art, and particularly Monet, the Marmottan museum is near the Arc de Triomphe, and is well worth a visit. I would also suggest you visit the Louvre web site and get some familiarity with where everything is, since it is so large and you will only be there a short time, you will have to be selective.

The Bon Marche is not that close to the Eiffel Tower. I would suggest that the first day after a long trip you pick up supper somewhere closer. Also the Marmottan Museum is not near the the Arc de Triomphe, it is in the 16th arrondisement and quite a lenghthy trip. Although it is a fabulous museum in a very pretty area, I would suggest for a first trip it would be better to spend the time at the d'Orsay where you will see many Monets. Pere Lachaise is one of my favorite sights but needs time. If you want to do it I would suggest a guided tour. I have the name of a wonderful guide who spent three hours there with us. It was quite expensive but we got a very interesting history lesson.

sounds fun...and to top this off, if you are flying out of terminal 2, they have a Paul's at the airport where you can have your last French meal :) b/4 going through security...

Can someone list exactly where Angelina is?

I'd love to try some...I'll be in Paris in June.
