How does Paris Shuttle work - are they waiting for you?
We're thinking of reserving online for pickup at CDG for our hotel in the 6th. Are the shuttles lined up outside, how does this work? Are there many passengers with a lot of stops?
Would you recommend a shuttle service other than this one? Thanks! |
The shuttles are not lined outside. You shall call a 0-800 number, and head to the gate they will indicate to you.
I waited 20 mins for the van to show up, and even called them a second time, to make sure I was waiting at the correct gate, as I couldn't spot the Paris Shuttle van outside.. You never know how many will be sharing the van with you. There was only a mother and her two children when I used the service, and they were dropped before me. They were staying in the Right Bank, I was in Saint Germain. |
I believe the driver is there somewhere waiting because you provide them with your flight info. beforehand. Just be sure you retrieve your luggage first as they advise and then call the 800 # otherwise the driver leaves without you. We made the mistake of waiting for our luggage and then called them. By that time the driver left-it was only 20 minutes or so after our flight had arrived but he left. He thought we would not show up. We were told to wait for at least another half hour for another driver but we were too tired to wait. So we went back uptstairs to the arrivals hall and got in a short line and took a taxi instead.
I realize it was partly our mistake that we missed the shuttle but I think the driver could've waited. Needless to say, I recommend taking a taxi! Also there is a chance you will be sharing the shuttle with others so your dropoff may be longer than anticipated. It's fine if you don't mind waiting but if you're tired and want to get checked in at the hotel it will matter. |
We used Parishuttle in June this year. We had no difficulty. I called the toll free number from the telephone near the luggage carousel. Once we collected our luggage and went to the exit we had been directed to, the van was there. We were four people and we did not have to share. I suspect that may depend on the number of other bookings. We were taken directly to our hotel in the 6th. I booked this on-line and was given a small discount because I advised Parishuttle (Marc) that I was a "Fodorite". We paid with a credit card on pick up. It's a good idea to carry some smaller Euro notes or coins for a tip for the driver. I would not hesitate to use Parishuttle again, especially travelling with children.

Try [email protected]--make it to the attention of EVELYN--
We dealt with her and she made sure someone was waiting outside of Customs Hall in CDG with a sign..they also give you an 800 number if the driver is running late... NOTE- this is NOT PARIS SHUTTLE but a different shuttle service...they were great and we were a family of 5 and there were No other stops.... Definitely get a shuttle -- as when a meter is running , a normal taxi ride can get ski high....We got caught in a morning traffic jam from CDG and it took almost an hour to get to the hotel.... |
There are quite a number of shuttle services in Paris. Your hotel may be able to recommend one.
When in Paris, you can also consult the Paris Yellow Pages where there is a whole slew of them listed. The shuttle driver will not be waiting for you curbside. This is because everything in Europe is very compacted. In Paris, in particular, every inch of space must be used. There is NOWHERE for the driver to park his shuttle and wait for you. In fact, when he picks you up he may have to drive up on the curb. You should, therefore, be ready to jump into the shuttle with all your belongings the moment he arrives. Happy travels! |
