How do you type the Euro symbol?

What magic combination of letters do I need to push to get the Euro symbol?

Cholmondley_Warner Feb 15th, 2008 09:21 AM

ctrl+alt+4

there you go.

AisleSeat Feb 15th, 2008 09:24 AM

Why is this not working for me? Probably operator error.....

bob_brown Feb 15th, 2008 09:31 AM

I don't think ctrl alt will work on most keyboards. I hold down the alt key and then type 0128 on the numeric keypad. I must use the numeric pad; otherwise I get nothing. €

Judi Feb 15th, 2008 09:36 AM

For Macs it's shift+option+2

€

littlejane Feb 15th, 2008 09:40 AM

Could be Alt Gr + 4

lobo_mau Feb 15th, 2008 09:48 AM

bob's suggestion works for me

janisj Feb 15th, 2008 09:48 AM

wouldn't it be different whether one is on a UK/European/US/etc keyboards (?) since they have £, €, or $ in different places -- so getting other currencies would also be different (just guessing)

I can't help since you are probably on a pc. On a US mac its just shift+opt+2 like Judi says

FWIW, on my pc Bob's suggestion works well.

Gardyloo Feb 15th, 2008 10:17 AM

Take out the spaces between & euro ; (semicolon) and there you go. Also & pound ; btw.

€ £

AisleSeat Feb 15th, 2008 10:35 AM

€ Alt 0128 works! Yea!!! Thanks all! € € €

kerouac Feb 15th, 2008 10:37 AM

On a European keyboard, it is a simple AltGr + E.

alanRow Feb 15th, 2008 10:42 AM

What happens if you C&P "€"?

Ackislander Feb 15th, 2008 12:10 PM

Gosh, here we are in 1983 again! You can change the interface, but good old ASCII is sitting there doing the work!

AisleSeat Feb 15th, 2008 12:24 PM

Akislander, maybe you can show me how to do it on my TRS-80 from Radio Shack.

Robespierre Feb 15th, 2008 12:33 PM

€

ampersand
"euro"
semicolon

Dejais Feb 15th, 2008 12:45 PM

€ £

Thanks for the info. Now I can stop typing E and GBP like a dork. :)

rex Feb 15th, 2008 12:46 PM

Take a look at a whole long list of "alt + xyz" or "alt + 0xyz" codes, here:

Best wishes,

Oh my god, I just realized the "pound" symbol has vanished from the german keyboards. The $ is still where it's supposed to be, above the "4". How long will it take before the $ disappears, and with which symbol will it be replaced?

AisleSeat Feb 15th, 2008 01:21 PM

The way the exchange rate is going you won't be able to see the $ on your keyboard soon.
