How do you pronounce "Ljubljana"?
 

This is a difficult e-mail to respond to, I know. Will be traveling thru "Ljubljana" on way to Venice from Budapest. It would be nice to be able to pronounce the capital city correctly! English phonetics would be helpful. I don't mean to offend anyone from this part of the world, but I really don't know how to pronounce this.<BR><BR>Signed,<BR><BR>Language Challenged American Tourist

From a quote in Fodor's Europe Guide, "The capital of the republic of Slovenia is on occasion referred to as "Ljubljana the beloved," a play on words: Ljubljena means "beloved"; change one letter, and you have the name Ljubljana." <BR> <BR>But I haven't felt condident pronouncing it until now, so thank-you very much, posters!
