How do you like your French Fries?

Reading a post about dinning etiquette, this question came to mind.

How do you like your fries?

Sometimes I love them plain and salty
Sometimes with Dijon..

But always crispy never soft.

I like mine without the fatty cholestrol - thank you.

Sol, I like them crispy, cooked in olive oil with salt and Dijon. Yum!

indytravel Oct 25th, 2004 01:10 PM

I prefer them fried crispy in the classic beef tallow/vegetable oil blend perfected by McDonalds but long since abandoned.

Fries in the US have been lousy ever since.

With Heinz Ketchup please.

Sometimes I like them with a good homemade mayo.
Rarely with ketchup, used to eat them with mustard.
Love eating them with mussels :D

Fries..

Stuffed in a gyro

As a center in a rustic pizza

Scarlett > try mixing mayo with a bit of chipotle.

Simply Delicious

Pomme frites? Scarlett, when we went to Paley's Place in Portland, we had the best pomme frites and mussels there.

They were presnted so nicely, we took pictures of them. You've made me miss Portland now. DH has suggested we fly there for a few days, but I really don't feel like leaving the kids right now. (That weird nesting thing, I guess!! ) ***kim*** (~~)

In England, with salt and vinegar.

In france, with moules!

Best fries I've ever had are at 750 ML, a Portland, OR wine bar...."tantalizing truffle-scented french fries served with a side of garlic aioli for dipping." Wow, they are good!

kimamom Oct 25th, 2004 01:33 PM

750ML, now I really miss Portland, Beachbum!! I also like them served with a nice aioli sauce, with a little jalapeno and dill. Yummy! Sweet potato fries are also good with this! ***kim*** (~~)

Have eaten french fries with salt & vinegar for many years, until I discovered fries (pomme frites) with mayo while travelling through Belgium. Fries should always be crispy. :)>-

beachbum, last night the Yankee and I were talking about 750ml :) We want to go there when we return to Portland..which might be between Nov-Feb.
Kim, I kept your list so I can go to the places we missed the first time :)

in a paper wrapper, walking down the streets of Bruges on a sunny afternoon.

uhoh_busted Oct 25th, 2004 01:49 PM

I like them with mussels, but I ALSO like them at the beach with hot gooey yellow-orange cheese. (Haven't had them in years, sigh, but ooooooh, they were good!

Underhill Oct 25th, 2004 02:20 PM

All by themselves, with salt; thick and not too crisp. But they MUST be fried twice to have the right consistency.

MyriamC Oct 25th, 2004 02:42 PM

You're right, Underhill, fried twice is the secret of good fries! With mayo, please.

Disco fries (with mozz cheese & brown gravy) at a NJ Diner at 2:00 am...Heaven!

Scarlett Oct 25th, 2004 03:59 PM

Hello Mym! Belgian fries with mayo ~ I know someone who is missing those :D

I feel like a neglected child, I have never had Cheese fries :(

Budman Oct 25th, 2004 04:22 PM

Yes, Belgium fries with mayo!!! They're the best!!! ((b))

tpatricco Oct 25th, 2004 04:29 PM

It's never too late for cheeser fries Scarlett!

Mmm...Sweet Potato fries are good too. Mom made crispy shoestring fries with Au Jus gravy last night like my brother and I used to eat when we were kids. Yum!

Tasty thread, Sol!
