How do you get to Capri from Rome?
We are not renting a car. Can we take a bus or a train? How long will it take? Or would you recommend staying there? Thanks!

Train from Rome to Naples. Ferry or hydrofoil from Naples to Capri. Don't know how long. Maybe others can help. I think this would be a killer day trip if that is what you are asking.

Belle-
Capri is an island, so even if you rent a car, you still won't be able to get there by car. Here is a post by GAC that I have cut & pasted: Author: GAC Date: 02/09/2004, 06:11 pm Message: You can save a bunch of money and do it on your own. Take a train from Rome which goes to NAPOLI MERGELLINA. Walk 500 yards to the MERGELLINA hydrofoil dock, thence a hydrofoil to Capri. Don't go to Napoli Centrale, where you need a bus or taxi to reach the boat dock. www.trenitalia.com (trains) www.snav.it (hydrofoil)) The train takes about 2hrs, and the hydrofoil takes about 40mins. It is too far to go as a daytrip. |
Thanks for your help! I was thinking we might have to stay overnight!

There are bus tours out of Rome, 13 hours round trip. I think they run about 150 Euros, bus to Naples, hydrofoil to Capri, boat to the Blue Grotto, Lunch on Capri, boat to Sorrento, shop for an hour, three hour bus back to Rome
Hotel pick up approx 6:30 AM Return Rome approx 9:00 PM I think they run on Mondays and Saturdays is I remember correctly. |
Hi Belle,
I suggest on planning an overnight to Capri. It is much nicer after the daytrippers go home. |
