I always do early-mid May, not only because that's when college lets out, but also because I get the green lushness and late opening times (for attractions and such) of summer without the extreme prices, heat, and boatloads of tourists found in June, July, and August.

June because it's off-season here but not yet hurricane season & I want to be here for that to secure my house & not have to worry about my dogs. Work has eased up & my destination is warm then. I don't care to go anywhere cold.

I decided to go somewhere for my birthday;in May, every year. I alternate destination, one year it's international the next year it's domestic. It's been working out pretty good so far.

We used to take the kids out of school in April/May to travel to springtime Europe. Beautiful.

Then they didn't want to be pulled out of school anymore - too much work to make up.

Now, we squeeze our travel into the tiny window in summer between swimming lessons, music camp and marching band camp. End of July, first week of August.

My kids are growing up too fast - I'd rather have them still travelling with me than wishing to be back in my April/May travel mode - that will return soon enough!

I THOUGHT April/May was the best time to travel. But now, 9 days before my Budapest trip, I'm seeing weather reports predicting lows in the 30s and highs in the 80s, all within the final week of April! Is "spring" becoming extinct?

I would never go between June and late September.

We usually go in September - college kids are back in school as well as all the other school-age people. Teachers, too. Weather is still really nice. Fares used to be lower, but recently this has not been so much. But less crowds means more space, more relaxed feeling, and no waiting on lines. Also, heat of summer, which knocks me out, is basically gone.

Traveled in March-April this year to Budapest - we lucked out with the weather. In the 50's and 60's.
