I received a letter from Sixt saying that the Belgian police contacted them about a violation. Sixt enclosed a copy of the paperwork (it was speeding, 70 in a 60 IIRC) and said that they passed my contact info off to the Belgians who would then contact me. That was over two months ago and I have not received anything from Belgium yet.

I had visited Germany in June this year and I had rented out a car from Avis during my stay. The rental company recently charged my credit card for 15 Euros and 30 Euros for providing my information to the Traffic Authorities in Germany for 2 separate speeding violations committed the same day at 2 different places. I was driving from Munich to Paderborn.

So far I've only received one letter from the traffic authorities with a fine of 120 Euros + Misc fee of 23.50 = 143.50 euros. The letter mentioned that the offence was for speeding at 119 kmph in a 80 kmph zone off-city limits.

I don't know what the other offence/fine might be.

Now my concern is: Can I ignore these tickets? Its very unlikely me visiting Germany again. If I can't ignore, does the current system allow me to make payments easily online? Paying through banks is a nightmare!

Any sound advice is really appreciated!

Hi Machomania - Welcome to Fodors. It is usually best to start a new thread with your question rather than tacking it onto the end of multiple old threads. That increases of someone who knows the answer seeing your question and responding. People often don't bother scrolling to the bottom of old threads like this.

At any rate, if you were speeding and got a ticket, then my advice is to pay it.

You can ignore the ticket if you wish but I think we call agree that is the unethical thing to do. The legal and ethical thing to do is pay the ticket. Not being able to conveniently pay your fine is an unacceptable excuse for not paying.

It really bothers me when people try to weasel out of their obligations.

The "easiest" way to pay the ticket is find someone you trust who lives in Germany and has PayPal. PayPal them the fine plus 4% and have them pay it on your behalf.

protip: only certain portions of the autobahn have "no speed limit".
