How do I post a message in the France forum?

Everytime I click on "France" it comes up "Europe". Help!!

rex Feb 11th, 2005 06:50 PM

There really is no "France forum" - - there is only a "Europe forum" with "country tags" on individiual posts if the original poster remembers to put one (or multiple, if applicable)there initially. So, if you click France when you post a message, and someone else comes along looking only for the Fraqnce postings, yours will be included in the subset ("the France forum") that they see.

Best wishes,

Rex

There is no France forum.

France -- as I'm sure you know -- is in Europe.

Hence does not rate its own forum -- notwithstanding the French think of their country as a universe, let alone a mere continent.

You will find lots of France-specific info on the Europe forum

Rex, merci monsieur. So if I understand this, it is simple: just include the word France or French in the title of the message and it will default to the "french" forum if a search is undertaken?

Almost there orval. Having "France" in the title will make a difference.

When you add a new post there's a category at the top of the page. It says "Pick a topic." If you select France then it'll come up when other's select "France" from the Europe forum.

Doing both is the best thing.

By the way you can select multiple "topics."

Going to France and Italy? Hit the control button and click on "France" then scroll down hit the control botton and select "Italy." Doing this it will come up with Italy or France from the front page.

Never fear though. It seems most posters look at all of them. I know I do.

indy describes it with greater clarity than i did...

Thanks very much everyone.
Apparently I am either doing something wrong or the vagaries of this forum the last few days as reported in some of the messages are messing with me. I shall continue, as failure is not an option.

For what it's worth, you HAVE successfully posted your Bordeaux villa question - - http://www.fodors.com/forums/pgMessa...p;tid=34566021 - - on "the France forum". And what it says when you select France, is

Forum: Europe
Tpoic(s): France

You have it "in the right place" - - but keep in mind that only a small fraction of people look at the forum by individual countries, as is mentioned above (and those who do are looking for the more obscure countries, winnowing their rarer posts from the much larger number). Most people just look at all of Europe - - so the right people are going to see your post, either way.

HI orval--if I understand it correctly--there is really no separate forum for France. It is *all* Europe and typing France in the box is not a way of posting, but rather a way of searching. So don't worry about trying to post on France. Maybe you were thinking that was the reason you were not getting more responses to your query about villas in Bordeaux, but maybe it is just that no one has any info/knowledge of them. You can always put TTT on your original post to move it back up to the top of the list so that more people who may have not seen your original will have a chance of seeing it.

As a new member to this forum, I appreciate the time and effort that obviously is expended by many. Through the responses, the question is answered.
