How do I get theatre tickets?

Just heard a review on NPR today of the new production of "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang." They thought it was great fun - an incredible production. With "chittygal" in your internet name, I just thought you'd be interested!

We took our kids to the Lion King when we were in London last month. It was fascinating to see how they put an animated movie to the stage. Lots of puppets, great effects, incredible costumes. It was amazing.

Before we went, my son, who is a hot shot twelve year old had said, "Aw, Mom! Not the Lion King!" when he heard we were going to the play, thinking it would be babyish. You should have seen his jaw drop when the play started - literally. He was spellbound, and turned to me, after about ten minutes, and exclaimed, "This is real theater! This is awesome!" And it truly was, for all of us, even the grown-ups.

Now I must add, (and I know the theater snobs are thinking this must certainly be the case) we don't get to theater of this calibre often. It's expensive and far away. We only had time for one play, and decided to choose a play we knew the entire family would enjoy. And boy did we!

Another hint along that "fun" theater route, I hear the audience is dancing in the aisles at the end of Mama Mia. (Alas, I hear the touring production, which will be in Portland this spring, isn't as good...) And, wouldn't it be fun to see "My Fair Lady," in London?

Know thyself and what you will be in the mood for on this special vacation to an exciting city. For some of us, seeing theater on par with London or New York happens only a few times in a lifetime. Pick out what you will enjoy, not what someone else thinks you should enjoy!
