How do I get from Athens to Amorgos?

Hi,

I'm off to Greece in about 3 weeks and I'll be going straight from the Athens airport to the Amorgos island. What's the quickest and/or best way to get there? Is the ferry the only option? Does anyone know how long it would take?

Blue Star Naxos goes from Piraeus to Amorgos three or four days per week - see http://tinyurl.com/cj2lc.

If timing isn't right for you, go to the island of Naxos and pick up Express Skopelitis, which leaves around 1500 daily for Amorgos.

No airport on Amorgos, so ferries are your only option.

Until Sep 11th the Blue Star Naxos actually goes to Amorgos 7 days/week, stopping alternately at Aegiali or Katapola in the early hours of the following morning. If you can catch one of the early morning ferries to Naxos from Piraeus or Rafina you will be on Naxos in time to sail on the Express Skopelitis, which arrives on Amorgos at a more reasonable hour.
