How do I find apartment rentals in Venice?

Thank you

Check out VRBO.com - Venice.

You rent directly from the owner. Many Fodorites use it with good results.

I've used www.venicerentals.com on two separate occassions and been very pleased.

You can also check www.slowtrav.com for reviews.

Venere.com has an apartment rental section. We just returned. We stayed in Hotel Corte Grimani. Perfect location, great apartment. It was very, very clean. You would swear it had never been used.

sdtravels -- when were you at the Corte Grimani? We just spent time there too. We were there Aug. 25th - Aug. 28th.

We loved it too. Weren't Guido and Donatella amazing?

I agree with the vrbo.com recco, I have used them in Venice and elsewhere in Europe and the US. Very nice to deal directly with the owner. Other sites for Venice are:

You can also try www.veniceby.com (and ALWAYS read the cancellation policy).

Tries2PackLite:

I was there the exact same dates! That place was fabulous and the location could not be beat. One night my husband dropped a glass of red wine in the bed room. It splashed all over the walls, the lamp shade, the furniture, the rug, our clothes. The splatter pattern would give CSI a run for their money. I went downstairs to notify them of the problem. Donatella came up immediately and wiped everything down herself. I was so embarrased. Luckily everthing came out except the lamp shade, and they will have to paint. We offered to pay for the damage but they refused.

I am trying to find the time to do a trip report. That was only one of many mini disasters on our trip, but perhaps the most spectacular.

My husband is probably more recognizable than me. Do you remember a gray haired guy with a beard?

sdtravels -- It may be easier to remember us. We were a large group, never terribly quiet, had teenagers mixed in, and they tended to monopolize the computer in the lobby. My sister would have been the redhead who was at the front desk constantly asking Guido for updates on her luggage situation.

I can't believe that we missed a chance for a small Fodor's get-together!
