How do I find a Previous Post?

Ok, I posted a message here yesterday about wanting some advice on a meal budget for Italy. When I came to this forum again last night, I couldn't find my message. So, I posted basically the same message again. Immediately upon doing so, my screen "refreshed" and I saw both my new post and my original. Today I can't find either one! I even tried the "text search" option and that didn't work.

I'm experienced with using these types of discussion boards and I'm fairly computer literate, but this one's got me stumped. Help!

Both your posts are showing to the rest of us, not sure why you can't see them. If you still can't find them post here again and I will answer your question in this thread.

This makes my brain hurt a little for you... How did you plan to find this thread if you're not able to find others?

Chris, Fodor's board software (or something) is not perfect, and there occasional oddities like the one you described. If you know your post was available before, and it doesn't come up in your search results, it's probably just the system having a little nervous breakdown. Usually things are back to normal in a matter of hours. (You could always contact the board administrator if it's an ongoing thing.)

I hate to suggest something so obvious, but are you using the "next 50" - - posts don't stay on the "first page" (50 threads posted most recently) more than a few hours here.

Best wishes,

Rex
Having responded to an earlier post that Chris made, I too am stumped at not being able to locate it. I'd rather not repost my entire answer. Will wait a day or two then repost if necessary.

john

How about using the search engine at the top of the page (I haven't tried this myself). Put in the first few words of your post and see what comes up.
