How do I e-mail from Italy??
I am leaving for Italy in two days and would like to know how one e-mails from a foreign country? Should I bring my own lap top?
|
No problem. There are Internet Cafes all over Italy, Greece and Turkey. Just ask and you will find one. Every large city has several.
|
Also, most public libraries and many of the hotels in the larger cities (Rome, Florence and Venice).

Hi Ed,

Excuse my ignorance, but I do believe that you will have to create another e-mail address to send e-mails with while traveling. I was in the Netherlands last May and used Hotmail to create an address that I used to e-mail family.

Does this sound correct to all of you out there?
|
In both Hungary and the Czech Republic last year I was able to access my aol mail. I'm not sure of others.
Yahoo mail definitely works in Italy (and most anywhere else, I believe.) The internet points in Italy are very user friendly, with the option of American-style keyboards and plenty of helpful, English-speaking staff, should you need them.

Thanks for all the information. Will go to a cyber cafe and leave my lap top at home!

The easiest way to pick up and send emails from Internet cafes or public internet terminals is to get yourself a free WEB-BASED email account (suggest PMAIL or LYCOS).

If your normal email address is web-based, then no problem. Otherwise, get one of the above accounts, then before you set off, set up your normal account to forward all your mail to your web-based one. Then when you are on holiday, you can go to the PMAIL or LYCOS site and collect /reply to your mail.

Chris
Sheffield
