How do i divide 10 night up in Provence/Cote d'Azur?

Hello fodorites,
If it was your first time in Provence, how would you divide your time up having 10 nights. I'm looking for your personal opinions--what you would do.
Thank you,
wp

10 days Provence - 0 days Cote d'Azur!

ok, but how would you divide it up in Provence? I guess you have your reasons for deleting the Cote d'Azur-maybe you would like to share them?!

Me too. 10 days in Provence - 5 in the area around Les Baux and 5 in les alpes-de-haute Provence.

ZERO on the Côte d'Azure.

I did do that once, actually, my first trip to that area was about that time (maybe more like 12 days). I split it about equally between Avignon (4 days), Aix (3 days) and Nice (5 days). I did not have a car, though, so just saw those cities and did some day trips by train/bus.

So, it really depends on what your transportation is going to be. If you won't have a car, I would stick with the above 3 cities, maybe 4-2-4 nights in above order.

If you will have a car, I don't really know, but I'd ditch it before Nice, probably, and use it to tour the Luberon and smaller towns in that area -- if you can do that, I might cut a day off Nice and add it to the Avignon area for sightseeing (5-2-3).

Other than Nice or nearby Antibes, I would not spend any time on the Cote d'Azur, but I don't like expensive crowded touristy resort areas and don't like beaches, either (the beaches around there aren't much good, anyway -- I do like the views of the sea, but you can get those from Nice). If I had a LOT of money and could stay luxuriously, that might make a difference.

I was considering the same qustions as above. So, if you don't like Cote d"Azure and want a little beach time with the kids, where would you choose/ Nice, Frejus area, or Menton-or would you stay on the Italian side of the border?

Please, don't forget that the Cote D'Azur is not only Nice, Cannes, cap Ferrat and D'Antibes, Juan Les Pins and Eze, Villefranche sur Mer, but also Mougins, Grasse, Biot, Vence and St. Paul, Fayence, Valbonne and some other very charming villages.

Also, I don't think Aix is more interesting than any of these Cote D'Azur villages. In fact, I don't like Aix at all! Cours Mirabeau, what a bluff!

Madame,it is difficult to say which is best?it depends really on what you want to do?the area is wide enough to propose almost anything, from glitz to natural,to bulls,to palaces!
