How do I buy Ballet tickets for upcoming trip to Russia?

I can find sites on line, but they all seem to be based in the UK or USA and the prices are very high IMO. We are travelling to St Petersburg and Moscow and want to see a ballet in each city. We are there between April 28 and May 6th, so not high season

Would we be able (wise) to wait until we get there or is there a reputable and reasonable place to buy them before hand? We are doing this on our own so dont have a travel agent or anything. I know that some of the shows arent listed yet, just planning ahead.
Thank you.

For St. Petersburg check out the sites of the two major theaters for ballet - www.mariinsky.ru and www.mikhailovsky.ru - you can book tickets online.

Thank you so much . I just booked the theatre for April 28th and very reasonably priced and the site was easy to use. The theatre looks amazing, I dont even care what I see....

I see now that RU should be in the address for a Russian website. Now I am working on tickets for Swan Lake, but they are not up yet so I emailed them directly.
Thanks again.

I hope you enjoy the performances and your stay in St. Petersburg. Feel free to ask more questions about this city if you have any.

Thank you Cruise. Any suggestions how to get tickets for the Bolshoi in Moscow? I sent them an email a couple of days ago but no answer yet. When I try to book tickets it only comes up in Russian and has a list of people who get priority to buy tickets. For some reason I am not on that list..ha ha

Thanks very much.
