nukesafe,

I bought one of those on eBay from China for my wife's iPad 2... when connecting we get a message saying "not a genuine Apple product" or some such... we just ignore it and carry on. Ours works fine and didn't cost the 50 bucks Apple wanted to charge for theirs.

I have a 16GB iPad 3rd generation. It holds 2500 photos and that is about it. I don't have many apps on it taking up space.

"Copy your daily pictures from the original card to the iPad, then copy them back to the other SDHC card."

I don't know about the newest versions, but on mine, you cannot copy from ipad to SDHC directly. Or if there is, I have never figured out how to do it. So if anyone knows how, I would be much obliged if you would share your knowledge.

I'm sure there is a way, even if it's not pretty - but somehow I'm not surprised that Apple would intentionally make your life more difficult by trying to prevent such a user action. This is another reason I don't buy Apple products.

I only recently figured out how to move them from iPad to laptop [PC] and once I figured it out, it was pretty easy. I then backed them up to a flash drive so I am good to go on my upcoming trip to Italy.
