How can I get Prague from Munich?
 

I'll be in Munich on next June 1st and<BR>I'd like to get a train and visit Prague<BR>for 3 days. I don't know if there are trains<BR>direct from Munich or if I have to go to<BR>another city to take a train to get the<BR>border and take another train to Prague. <BR>I'll rent a car in Munich to visit other cities in Germany, Amsterdam and Bruges.<BR>Please, if somebody knows how I could get it, send me a message. <BR>Thanks in advance.

Last June, I took a train from Munich to Nurenburg. Then connected with another train in route to Prague. Returned the same way. That was the only route available at the time. If memory serves me well, it took about 7 hours each way. Good luck!

The reference library of a city near you may have the Thomas Cook European Timetable. Table 57 has your trains. The through train, without a change, runs by night. Munich main station 2310, train with 1, 2 and 3 berth sleepers and crowded 6 berth couchettes. I took a direct, overnight train from Prague to Munich so I would assume that you can take a direct train on the reverse route. However, for such a long train ride (about 7 hours) I would advise that you buy your tickets in advance.

Ligia, there are several options for such a trip. The first option is a direct overnight train leaving Munich late in the evening (11 pm), arriving in Prague at about 8 a.m. I believe this is the train I took when I made the journey several years ago, and it was fine. You can also travel via Nuremburg. I recommend the website www.raileurope.com--not necessarily for ticket purchase (I've always been fine doing that at the train station), but for itinerary information.
