How about this skirt that converts into pants or shorts?
I was thumbing through a magazine and ran across an article on Macabi Shirts. They look pretty nice and can be converted into shorts or pants by snaps. What do'ya think for hiking in France and Italy?
http://www.macabiskirt.com
I think it looks alright as a skirt, but a bit ridiculous as pants and especially as shorts...
I would wear them for hiking and such, but don't think I would wear them for a night on the town or to sightsee in.
it looks dull as a skirt, and looks like a diaper otherwise
Christina that is funny.
I sort of like them in the pictures of the thin women but when you have a few extra pounds on you, they look like sacks.
The three women fishing on the San Juan River in Utah look fine. It is an idea to buy one if you are going to be in the country in hot weather.
Did you see the colored skirts at the bottom of the homepage, where the skirt goes higher and higher? I bet the men will vote for the blue one :)

Reminds me how long time ago in the old movies the women would tuck the skirts to wash the floors.

Why not to buy pants with zip-removable lower parts to convert into shorts? I can't picture anybody in the city wearing that diaper skirt, and out in the nature the skirts are not comfortable anyway.
My first thought was that the skirt would be cooler than pants and could be worn in a restaurant too. Now I don't know, I tend to agree with all of you, it would probably be just another skirt that I never wear.
I see they sell them at Magellans, maybe I could try one on.....
I find 'travel specific clothing' often does not live up to its claims. One of those "It sounded like a good idea at the time" kind of things. I haven't seen the skirt in question, but...

personally I'd pack 1 good skirt, 1 nice pants, and 1 decent shorts, in lightweight traveleasy fabrics (and I pack *very* light).
I think "zip-offs" (pants that convert into shorts) are terrific. The ones I have from Royal Robbins are very lightweight, wash easily in the sink and dry overnight, and are quite comfortable in hot weather.

While they are not the most stylish outfit for the city (although you will see them on the casual younger crowd everywhere), they are especially handy if you are going to be in the country side (hiking or whatever) and the weather is uncertain. Also in SE Asia where shorts are not allowed in the temples but the weather is very hot and humid. I almost always throw a pair in my luggage.

In a recent survey of men, 97% said they would prefer a skirt that converts into thin air to one that converts into pants or shorts. :)
And I suppose the remaining three percent already know what the paricular subject actually loooks like, is that it?
"where the skirt goes higher and higher? I bet the men will vote for the blue one"

Sorry, my wife's Victoria's Secret Catalog arrived today. I'll have to check out the short skirts later.
I guess for hiking, it doesn't matter too much how you look, but for me, UGLY!
Gap and J Crew make so many things more attractive.
and for the rest of us not going hiking, there are beautiful thin light weight cottons for us,like gauze and tissue silks and linens to make that 22 inch bag full on enough clothes for all occasions. But saying that, you should wear what you like. Nothing is better than wearing something you really love, tho your friends maynot like it.
Now I am intrigued, I can't find the blue skirt that hikes up higher and higher. I want to be the American Hiking Temptress.
sea urchin: it is at the bottom of the home page.
Oh my god, that's the ugliest garb I've ever seen! I wouldn't wear those to a dog fight, and I don't go to dog fights, so you know what I mean... Yuck!
You guys are a riot!
And I certainly wouldn't wear it to a cat fight. Not even a bull fight.
And you know, sometimes it is better to look good than to feel good, to quote an old Billy Kristol SNL skit.
Wren, you're mixing up your Billys. Kristol is the arch-conservative; Crystal is the comedian.
Hey, wait a minute...what am I saying? Arch-conservatives are comedians too! :) |
Capo, did you buy your macabi skirt yet? It seems like men wear them too.
