I haven't stayed there but must have walked past the bldg dozens of times. The agency I used for many years had offices literally yards from there in Wilton Rd.

The website says it is nearest to Pimlico station - but it is really about equidistant from Pimlico/Victoria.

It is very convenient for transport and a large supermarket is less than 2 blocks away. You'd be walking distance to Tate Britain and Buckingham Palace and there are lots of places to eat nearby.

There is another thread about Pimlico around.

As I said on that thread the difference between Pimlico and the othjer locations people ask about on here is that normal English people live in Pimlico - it's not part of the tourist wastelands.

It's an upmarket residential area with lots of little shops and some excellent pubs and places to eat.

Pimlico station is on the Victoria line so the centre of town is easy to get to and there are about a million buses as Victoria is a major bus station.

The only downside is a mad woman lives there. Trust me on this.

Not the one with the very big garden the other side of Victoria Station?

Cholmondley_Warner Dec 13th, 2007 02:45 AM

No the one with too many cats and rather clingy tendancies.

Does the mad woman live in the apartments or in the streets? And in what way is she mad? Intrusively, or merely a background eccentric?

Should you decide to stay in Pimlico, you should see the film "Passport to Pimlico," an Ealing comedy and one of the classics of British cinema. Netflix will have it.

The mad woman is my ex. She is mad because either she married me in the first place or allowed me to divorce her.

She has too many cats.

I would have to stay there to see the real London then!

deb....stayed near the Pimlico Station area many years ago, and I can tell you one of the best pubs in all of London is the old Pimlico Pub. At the time, we used a B and B called Romano's and could walk over to the pub from there. It seemed like a pretty good and safe area then (1970's-80's)
