how about a Malaga lunch?
 

my wife and I are early to rise and go to bed. Lots has been written about places to dine in Malaga, Madrid and other locations in Spain. Little has been written about where to lunch. Lunch will be our primary meal of the day. Any help and recommendations in Malaga and Madrid would be welcome and much appreciated.

What do you like to eat? Málaga has a few good options, Madrid a nearly endless selection.

You might want to make lunch reservations at La Cosmopolita in Malaga (www.lacosmopolita.es), Restaurante Gorki (www.cometemalaga.com/gorki/) or Los Mellizos (www.losmellizos.net).

Some of our favoriate places in Madrid are in barrio Salamanca and include Carlos Tartiere, Taberna La Catapa, Arzábal and of course Álbora (www.restaurantealbora.com) for lunch or dinner.

I don't know the name of the place but we had a great paella right on the beach! We had just arrived and it was a nice way to start our trip.

And as you probably know, lunch is the main meal of the day for most people in Spain. Everywhere you'll find bargain deals for a three course lunch with drinks included from everything from some 8 to 25-30€.

The typical and no fuss local places are usually some 8-12€, but many of the best restaurants also have bargain deals.

If you have a car, try lunch at La Consula in the village of Churriana out near the airport. Only open for lunch weekdays. A four course, gourmet meal with unlimited wine for €35. Reservations necessary.

And perhaps take a taxi and drive a few kilometers North of Malaga city to Venta El túnel. Fabulous Arroz dishes (a kind of more soupy paella) and paellas with the locals. Could be a great experience: http://www.ventaeltunel.com/galeria/...ialidades.html

I'm a little hesitant to jump in here since it's been ten years, but we enjoyed a lunch at the parador in Malaga. We're not foodies, but I remember a lovely lunch at a table with wonderful views over Malaga.

There are some excellent fish restaurants on the boardwalk in Pedregalejo, 6 kms east of Málaga.

Driving and "unlimited wine at lunch" is not a good idea in Spain, or anywhere else for that matter. You do not want to get a DUI in Spain, where the minimum fine can be 500€, plus time in jail. It could end up being a costly lunch.

Besides you don't want to deal with the Guardia Civil if you don't have to.

when I go to Malaga, I always go to the tapas restaurants in Calle Larios...Good food, decent prices.
