House rental in the greek islands.

Does anyone know of web sites that list house/inexpensive villa rentals in the greek isles?

In my experience, each island has its own small, independent rentals agencies. If you choose your island and do a search, you should find the agent, but you're not likely to find agents that cover more than one island.

Hey KC,

Renting your own place is by far the best way to experience an island. You'll love doing your daily shopping in the little stores, and after day 3, the merchants are so friendly . . .

I'd recommend finding out the local travel agencies on whichever island you choose, since they know absolutely all accommodation on their particular island. Even with a commission charge, it's the best way to select a place to stay. We've done this for Kos and Patmos and the level of individualised service is a foretaste of the hospitality of the islands . . .

HTH and enjoy Greece!

I echo the advice about searching the island name but there is an English company called Laskarina which specialises in smaller islands off the beaten track. You might want to try them

Laskarina are great - I've holidayed with them 4 times, and always had a fabulous time.

Their website is www.laskarina.co.uk

However, they provide all elements of a holiday, including return flights to the UK (London or Manchester). I'm not sure if they will be able to unbundle this and sell just the villa rental.

Hi again,

I've heard good things about Laskarina and have used Filoxenia with great results:

Why not get a cheap flight to London, depressurize/take in the sights/see some theatre, then head out to Greece? (Most of the summer charter flights are direct to the islands.)

Have big fun!
