Hotels Venice

I am joining a friend and her granddaughter on a choir tour of Flornece and Rome. Before the tour begins, we are gong to Venice for 3 days. I have reservations at both the Danieli and the Londra Palace. We want a central and easy location since as 3 ladies we have to get around without much help.
Any comments. The Cipriani is too far away for us. Thank you.

The two hotels are almost next to each other.

What is your budget?

What makes you unsure of these two properties?

Dear BKellyl, I spent 3 weeks in Venice ,with my 10 year old granddaughter,at the Hotel Bisanzio. It is two bridges removed from St. Mark's Square. It is a Best Western,a former palace. It is over two bridges and down a short street. The Church at the corner used to have occasional free concerts. It is a delightful hotel .Check it out. I highly recommend it. Nancy

Thank you all - I've never been to Venice so have no idea about location except from looking at a map (knew they were side by side). One hotel is large and the other small - both website picutures look nice but as my husband says any ad agency can make a destination look grand. A friend said to stay near a boat dock to avoid having to lug our bags around. Budget - not really an issue but want to feel that I am getting some value for my euro - location, hospitality, cleanliness, beauty, something. Have thought about the Gritti Palace and the Bauer. Will probably choose the Londra because of size and location but will check out the Hotel Bisanzio as suggested. Has anyone stayed at either?

I stayed at Bisanzio 10 years ago. That was my 1st time in Venice (then returned about 10 times so you can tell I love Venice.. ).

If you are looking at Danieli or Londra or Cipriani, obviously, don't expect the same class with Bisanzio. that's 3 or 3+ stars, isn't it? Don't also expect too much from "former palace" in English sense. Since it was my first time and before I discover Fodors forum, I bought a plane & hotel package from an agent. The first room they gave was small and dismal, I asked for other and got larger room with larger bathroom and a small balcony ( against a more than a small supplement but I accepted it). Staff was pleasant, they had a modern elevator. Fairly nice place in its category. Breakfast was slightly disappointing. Food not much varied, room plain. But that was 10 years ago. Maybe they improved on these. I fairly liked the hotel + it's location (right off the Vivaldi's church "Pieta" and Hotel Metropol but have not returned only because I have found "better" (to be, that's personal) places thanks to research on these forums. I never went to 5-star properties but in my limited experieces, have stayed at 2-star to some very nice 4 stars with great price/quality relation since then. So if I said things negative about Bisanzio, that's by comparison with other hotels I have stayed.

Oh, since we are talking Danieli and Londra, I have also stayed twice at Savoie & Jolanda 4* that is located between the two . Since both times I had a Junior suite facing the lagoon, I was very happy. For the view only I must have paid twice/thrice less than Danieli (or Londra). Room interior was on luxurious side. Breakfast and breakfast room ok (I had better at some 3*).
