We took the same trip back on Oct. 2009 but we also added Gorlitz (great little city on the Polish border)

Berlin hotel: Hotel Melia - outstanding location in East Berlin. Loved Berlin

Prague: K & K Hotel Central - good location but didn't care too much for the city.

Dresden: Steigenberger Hotel de Saxe - Very classy hotel in an outstanding location - loved this city that was almost totally destroyed in WWII. Just wish the weather had been better (cold and rainy)

Have a wonderful trip!

I second the recommendation for Bishop's House. The location is great-right off of the Charles Bridge. Be sure to take an early morning walk across the bridge. You will often see brides and grooms having wedding photographs taken on the bridge before the crowds arrived. I loved Prague, I have not been to the other cities mentioned but they are on my list.

Dresden:
Radisson Blu Gewandhaus Hotel
If money is not that much of an issue, the Kempinski Taschenberg Palais.
The Steigenberger de Saxe is also a good choice.

Dresden:
If you want to spend a little less and are ok with more basic but still comfortable rooms, the NH Altmarkt is not bad.

I actually like that location as it's convenient to both the Old Town, train station, tram lines, shopping, and the all-year Christmas like market.

J62 - remember that the bells of the Kreuzkirche are ringing again. The finished the repair. The NH Altmarkt is right next to the bells - I've heard too many complains about church bells on this forum. And that's the second biggest set of church bells in Germany. Otherwise I fully agree with you (though the OP said charm would be a plus).

We stayed at Melia in Berlin twice. Great location, good price but no charm.

Another vote for the Steigenberger in Dresden.
How is the Swissotel coming along? We're thinking of trying that out next year.

In Berlin, the Pullman Schweizerhof. More sleek than "quaint", but the staff are charming and we do like a city hotel with a pool. http://www.pullmanhotels.com/gb/hote...of/index.shtml

In Prague, the Mandarin Oriental. http://www.mandarinoriental.com/prague/
