Hotel Alimandi Vaticano is across the entrance to the Vatican Museum. I stayed there and like it very much. The sister 3 star is on the block behind it.

This is a genuine request for information, not being snarky, but why do you want to stay near the Vatican? Certainly if you want to go to early Mass daily it makes huge sense, but I have never thought of it as an area I would want to stay in and I may be missing something great!

The Hotel Spring House got a good review from a poster on Fodor's. It's really close to the entrance of the museums.
