Hotels near RER Line B stations, Left Bank

Can anyone recommend a good Left Bank hotel (under 150 Euros for a Single, if poss) within a couple of blocks of one of these 3 RER stations to CDG airport: St Michel-Notre Dame, Luxembourg, or Port-Royal?

Merci. Info on such a place greatly appreciated.

There are tons of them... maybe:

Grand Hotel St Michel 104-130€ / single

Hotel Dacia Luxembourg 132€ /single

Hotel Cluny Sorbonne 85€

You might ask for room on the back if worried about noise, since these are on/near blvd St Mich.

Thanks, Travelnut. Have checked & learned the DaciaLuxembourg, which looked great, has no room available for my nights in Sept. Considering the Grand St-Michel.

Easy access to an RER "B" is a must because, with luggage, I don't want to change trains to & from CDG.

We stayed at the Hotel St. Severin
(http://www.hotel-paris-severin.com/E.../TheHotel1.htm), and absolutely LOVED the location. It's on a small pedestrian street just off St. Michel, 1 block from the Seine, and just steps from the metro/RER B line. That's one of the reasons we chose it, also - so convenient to train line.

No room at the inn at Hotel Severin either, Hagan. I'm beginning to wonder what's going on in Paris the 3rd week in September.

Thanks for the suggestion. Perfect location for me. I really want to be in shouting distance of RER stations St Michel or Luxembourg.

September is fashion show month. Everything (food, lodging) is tray share.

Christina Jul 24th, 2006 12:52 PM

It isn't just fashion shows, it's just a lot of trade associations and trade shows, etc., are in Paris in Sept. and October. They are just busy hotel seasons for business, and that's true in a lot of major cities. You'd have the same problem in many cities. Some people just think of Paris as a tourist spot, for some reason.

Around Port Royal there aren't that many hotels, but I know of a decent 2* one that isn't advertised anywhere -- the Pierre Nicole. It might have rooms, therefore. It's only about a block from Port Royal and that's a nice neighborhood. Going the other way, I think you have the Novanox not too far away, but it may be more than two blocks, but not much. It's a basic 3*.

There are many around Luxembourg. I don't think some of those Travelnut mentions are near the RER stop, I'm a little confused -- like the Agora St Germain. The Sorbonne and Select hotels are within a couple blocks of Luxembourg, as well as Pantheon, Hotel des Grands Hommes -- probably the Cujas Pantheon for more budget.

Thanks again, I appreciate all the suggestions. It's hard. When I think I have zeroed in on one, I'll cross-reference it on TripAdvisor and people will moan about hearing the guy snoring in the next room.

Maybe I will stick to 3 stars and raise my limit to $200 a night...or around 160 Euros. That's what I do in NYC, and I shouldn't expect Paris to be different.

I stayed at Grand Hotel des Balcons in May a year ago--mainly because it was an easy walk to the Luxembourg RER station. It was a small, but nice room for 80 euro with helpful staff.

Robespierre Jul 24th, 2006 04:23 PM

If the requirement of being close to one of those three stations is flexible, I would recommend hotel-alixia.com without qualification. We have stayed in suites there for €130 (you can check September rates on line).

They're in Bourg-la-Reine and Antony, about ten and fifteen minutes south of St-Michel respectively - but the hotels themselves are an easy five minutes from the train.

Travelnut Jul 24th, 2006 06:35 PM

The hotels I listed today had availability at the time I 'tested' them; quite a few others did not. Therefore, I may have included one or two that were more of a walk than would be ideal.

If the only objection stated on tripadvisor.com is hearing that guy snore, consider doing as I do and wearing ear plugs. I like the soft squishy orange or pink ones as they are more comfortable. I am always able to hear my travel alarm. I never travel without earplugs.

Croque_Madame Jul 24th, 2006 08:54 PM

Try this one, located just steps from the St Michel stop. You may also check out reviews & photo's of the hotel on tripadvisor.

Good suggestion, Jeff, but no availability at the Hotel des Balcons.

Good suggestion, Croque Madame, but no availability at the Albe.

Never dreamed getting a hotel in the area I want for the 3rd week in Sept would be such a labor-intensive ordeal.

I'm almost ready to start searching for hotels walkable from the dreaded Les Halles/Chatelet RER zoo...but not quite.

Travelnut Jul 25th, 2006 12:32 PM

Logan, the ones I listed just above had availability on their own websites last night, from Sept 17-24 (which I guestimated as being close to what you needed).

Logan69 Jul 25th, 2006 12:37 PM

P>S> While I'm at it, I may as well report that also unavailable for my dates: Grand Hotel St-Michel, Hotel des Jardins du Luxembourg, Hotel des 3 Colleges, Hotel le Notre Dame, and I've forgotten the others. Even checked a couple I knew were too expensive: the Pantheon (194 Euros) and Les Rives de Notre Dame (183 Euros).

"Oh well."

Michel_Paris Jul 25th, 2006 12:43 PM

How about Hotel DE Notre Dame (not LE!)? I've walked by it a few times, nice location, near Notre Dame (St Michel RER), near Seine, small one way street.

Try booking through Venere, and we are staying within a 5 minute walk to Luxumburg station at the Jardin de l'Odeon. Venere got us a very good rate. Can't wait we will be in Paris on the 26th of August.
