Hotels near Piazza Navona
 

Planning a trip for our first anniversary in November. Looking for cheap/moderate hotel in the 100-150 euro range. Heard good things about Hotel Navona but you lose first nights stay if you cancel so I'm waiting on booking. Any other suggestions?

150 euros isn't enough, but you can stay at Santa Chiara, behind the Pantheon, five minutes walk to Piazza Novona for about 200 euro. A great place.

We stayed at Hotel Smeraldo and loved it. It's off the main busy streets...
on a tiny alley actually. Just a basic
room with an okay breakfast but a super
location. Very close to Campo D'Fioro,
Pantheon, Piazza Navona. We walked everywhere except for St. Peters. Staff was

Stayed at Della Torre Argentina for 7 nights this summer. Very nice, clean, smaller sized hotel. No restaurant in the hotel (although you will be served a good breakfast ), but Restaurant/Cafe Brek is right around the corner, and is cheap & tasty. It's a real short walk to Navona, and there is a bus stop right outside, so you can get anywhere from there. It is on a major street, but the window shutters keep the noise out very well. I paid 100 Euros for a single. They have specials, and if you stay for several days, they may offer you airport transfers for a VERY reasonable price. Have fun!!

You should avoid the Hotel Smeraldo like the plague! In our "double room", I was able to touch both walls standing from the middle of the room! Anyone over 5'3" will be banging their knees against the wall when perched on the bathroom facilities.

Add to this experience the constant street noise, surly staff, and the claustrophobic surroundings, and you have the making of the hotel from hell.

There are many other choices in this part of town. You would regret booking the Smeraldo.

Stayed at Hotel Navona last March. It was 125 Euros for a double and it was practically sitting on top of the Pantheon. Nice family-owned/operated hotel. Don't expect any frills, but a clean room in a wonderful location.

Try the Hotel Primavera, right around the corner from the Piazza Navona. Fairly basic, but extremely pleasant staff and fabulous location, also right on bus & tram lines. We had a huge room with a great view.
