Hotels in Venice

I am taking my wife to Venice for our ten year anniversary in July for a couple of nights, looking for a nice romantic hotel, what would you suggest?
Did look at the Savoi & Jolanda, any comments on this hotel please

Happy anniversary !

We stayed at Savoia e Jolanda last November with their offer "Why Not ?" which included 2 nights in a deluxe double(lagoon view garanteed/the main factor which made us decide to stay at this hotel), buffet breakfast (can be served in the room), a bottle of prosecco in an ice bucket at arrival and 1 à-la-carte dinner including wine and mineral water. All this for a low season rate of EUR480 for 2 persons (high season 700 would have been well over our budget). We got all that were promised but above all, the room was the best. Luxurious but not too heavily decorated, spacious, large and two-sinked bathroom with bathrobes and slippers. And the view from our two windows to San Girogio and Salute gorgeous. My friend who had been to Venice nearly 10 times agreed that was the best 4-star hotel room he had. For once we did not hurry going out to visit the city to enjoy the lagoon view from our room with a glass of prosecco. The staff were all nice. The reception, restaurant waiter and especially the porter was so courteous and helpful. Frankly I was not expecting such a flawless service at that price in Venice. We might have been lucky but I guess the low season helped too. As most things went so well, we tipped happily more than usual to all the staff who helped. Originally we wanted to stay 3 nights at Savoia e Jolanda for which they offered a good rate for the extra night but finally we had decided to stay two nights in S&J and the 2 more nights at Pensione Accademia(deluxe double EUR 175/night). I had already stayed a few times at P.Accademia so I knew I would like the hotel and the area. But the lagoon view at S & J was a treat for us.

Many thanks for your time in replying, looks as though this could be the one??

Could be, but make sure you get a lagoon-view room for this special occation. There are many favorable comments on this hotel but few negative comments I've read were from the people who stayed in a room without such view.

I would recommend La Calcina (http://www.lacalcina.com/). It's located on the charming Zattere, with excellent views of the Giudecca canal. They even have a private roof garden that you can book. Buy your champagne in Venice and sit up there for an hour or two!

For a three star, it is irreproachable.

Yes, La Calcina is another great choice surely less expensive and rooms are lot simpler than S&J though. I stayed there once and loved the view over Giudecca Canal from our 3 windows.
