it would be helpful if you could say what you would like to spend, and what amenities you would like (elevator, air conditioning, etc.)
My favorite at 100e would be different than my favorite at 400e. |
Hi
Try a text search for "Venice and Hotel" for lots of suggestions. |
I really like Hotel Flora--great location, wonderfully helpful staff, fairly large room (but they have ones that are too small--so it's important to request a large one, lovely garden. Not sure they'd have larger rooms available for Sept., but it may be worth checking out.

My favourite was San Moise. I think it's a Fodor's rec. Loved the red marble room!!! :-)

Loved the Hotel Galleria and would stay there again. Right on the Grand Canal but still affordable. Could watch the water traffic from bed. Breakfast was served in our room. Friendly staff. In a quieter area of Venice (Dorsoduro).

We stayed at La Calcina(http://www.lacalcina.com) and loved it. It was away from the crowds but within a few minutes walking distance of the vaporetto stop. We were there in July with tons of tourists, and felt relatively isolated. Plus our room overlooked canals on two sides and was surprisingly spacious (bigger than rooms I've had in New York). Price was reasonable also, for a room with a view.

Recent raves on this board for a relatively new place, Locando Orseolo. Do a text search for comments.
All the places mentioned so far on this thread are in the inexpensive (Galleria) to moderate (up to 225e or so) price range. venere.com is a favored website for "shopping" hotels. Pensione Accademia & I think Orseolo are listed as B & Bs on that site. The others are 3* I think. |
Last year we stayed at the Hotel Firenze ([email protected]) and were very pleased, both with our room and the location (near Piazza San Marco). We requested a room with a balcony and it was quite large (two chairs and table) with an electrical roll down awning. We also were fortunate to have a boat dock steps away, as it was pouring rain when we arrived and again when we left, and we therefore used water taxis.
The room was decent size, nicely furnished and had a good bathroom. Breakfast was included and the breakfast room was pleasant. Hotel has an elevator, but we had to walk one flight of stairs to our room. We paid about €249. |
Another Pensione La Calcina fan! I've stayed there twice. It is well-run, clean, charming decor, nice rooms, good breakfast included. Cool, calm, quiet after a day of touring. Central yet peaceful location, on the Guidecca canal and very convenient to a vaporetto stop. Rooftop terrace that can be reserved no charge. But it is very popular reserve asap if interested.
