Hotels in Turin & Genoa - late August 2015

we are looking to spend three nights in Turin, and then three nights in Genoa, before travelling to Reggio Emillia. We are travelling by train, arriving in Turin from Lyon.

We would want to stay in the historic centre In both cities, and hotel recommendations would be most welcomed. We are not "five star" travellers, and something around the 100 to 130 euro a night would be good.

Any suggestions?

I have stayed in Turin at the Best Western Plus, Via Sacchi. The location is excellent, it is across the street from Porta Nova tran station and a 10-minute pleasant walk to the center of town. Very pleasant multilingual staff, several restaurants very close by. I would go back.

I think it is so much more reliable to go to booking.com, put in your dates, see what is available in your budget, look at pictures and the locations of hotels on the map, read reviews to see if the air con and wifi really work and whether the hotel is noisy and the immediate neighborhood pleasant.

For our trip last October, we reserved the Hotel Continental in Genoa, which is in your (and our) price range and is very well located.

As it turned out, we were moved to the Grand Hotel Savoia next door (same ownership apparently). It was lovely.

We were delighted with our two days in Genoa. It is a beautiful city!

By the way, Peter, if you're looking for a hotel in Lyon, I can highly recommend Hotel le Phenix. It is located right on the Soane River, and just steps from the old town area (very lively).

The Palazzo Cicala across from Genoa duomo is wonderful - good modern design in huge rooms, also nice bathrooms and breakfast.
