Hotels in Split

We will be arriving in split in sept and I have been looking for a place to stay that's a reasonable price( 100 euros) for two people and clean. I have read reviews about the Bellevue Hotel and also the Adriana that do not sound too appealing though they are situated in a great location. Has anyone stayed in these hotels and thought they were ok? Does anyone have suggestion of a place to stay? Or is split just expensive and if we want something reasonable we will just have to pay the big bucks?

After much researching, I decided on the Hotel Peristil for 135 Euros--Sept 30-Oct 2. I think we were lucky to get reservations there. Jane

Apartment/sobe rental. Do a search on fodors or google tons of individual ads or companies. We did a private individual arrangement over the internet for dubrovnik, beautiful room with bath, private patio overlooking the old city, included breakfast, fridge in the room. $50 euros.

here is a recent post on fodors:
We stayed in a sobe in Hvar and Korcula. The one in Hvar was quite a walk from the main square (15 min.) but we had an apartment with a kitchen and really liked our hostess. Email is [email protected] I probably would stay closer to the harbor next time. Wonderful restaurant was Konoba Menego www.menego.hr Everything is homegrown and homemade, from the wine to the prsuet. Delicious.
It was Hvar Towns "saint" day, St. Stephen so there were tables with free food, music, wonderful. We were there two days.
In Korcula we stayed in a sobe, email:
[email protected] It was in easy walking distance to main square, but not actually in old town. Would recommend it.
We loved Split, stayed at B&B Kastel 1700, nice and clean and right on the "Riva" (water). www.kastelsplit.com Loved the "Green Market", wonderful flowers, produce, etc. When we were in Trogir, we stayed at a sobe: www.villa-pape.com It was quite new and nice, but out-of-the way from the old town. We had a car but I would stay in town next time. Our hostess was absolutely wonderful, tho. Had the best breakfast on the trip there. Did not stop for Roman ruins (have seens lots in Italy!).
Loved Dubrovnik, stayed at Suite Kashe, an apartment with two bedrooms, kitchen/living room. It was located above a restaurant "Poklisar" which was excellent. It is right on the Old Harbor, just outside the wall. Website for Suite Kashe is: http://www.dubrovnikconcierge.com/pa...ommodation.htm

ILorac:

We favor the Park Hotel in an upscale neighborhood and beach just ten minute walk from Diocletian's hang out. It's an elegant 20's hotel, large veranda, excellent restaurant, away from the hustle and bustle.

Thanks for all your infomation, this really helps. I emailed Hotel Peristil but they were all booked for Sept. How ever they did recommend Apartment Royal and I decided tol go with that because all the reviews on hotel Peristil were so positive. I found Dubrovnik had many places to choose from that looked delightful
