Hotels in Spain
I've asked this question before, but don't think I asked it in a manner that people really knew what I wanted t find out. So, here goes again. (Hope this one is better worded.)

We're going on a Brendan tour to Spain this November and we're curious about the hotels. We have no choice of what hotels we'll stay in, the tour company has already decided that. But, if you have stayed in any of these hotels, particularly if you have done it with Brendan or Globus, can you please give me your opinion of them?

Madrid, Mindanao
Seville, Occidental Porta Coeli, Torremolinos, Melia Costa del Sol
Granada, Carmen

Thanks in advance for any help you can give us with this.

This feedback goes strictly about the situation of some hotels as I have not entered anyone. PortaCoeli in Sevilla is located in a modern residential area, half way between Nervion Plaza shopping centre and the proper Old City. In the ground floor it is located one of the best restaurants in the city, whose name is Florencia. It is on the whole a modern hotel, dating from 80īs but appears to have been under renovation recently.

Melia Costa del Sol is located in Bajondillo area in Torremolinos. This is a waterfront area full of high blocks but also plenty of gardens among them. The hotel has two blocks facing the sea with the pool just in the middle. Its thalassotherapy centre and spa is one of the best in Spain. The town center can be reached well walking up a winding path or by bus/car not so directly.

Carmen is located within a reasonable distance from the main sights, down in the city centre. It is a 4* hotel, a classic in this city.

Hi Linda,

I'm taking this tour Oct 27. In the spring I emailed with 2 couples who took the tour. One said the Torre hotel was their favorite and the other said it was their least favorite (not much help there!). From what I've seen in guidebooks, it looks like a good location at least.
In Madrid, one couple said you can catch a bus right outside the hotel (#44 I think?) to the center.

Pedro, is the Porta Coeli in walking distance of the old city?

You would have to walk down Eduardo Dato Street. This would take you 15 minutes and from there to the Cathedral/Alcazar area via Sta Cruz narrow alleys, think of 10 minutes more for a total of 25 minutes but a pleasant walk as well. To come back, getting a taxi might be the best option ( not expensive ).

Thank you, Pedro and Dianne, for your information. Does anybody else have info on the Mindinao? Has anybody stayed at any of these four hotels?
