Perhaps my favorite stay in all of Spain, and often suggested here:

Las Casas de la Juderia.

Dona Maria. Great location with a stunning view of the cathedral form the rooftop and most rooms - about a hundred feet away. Should be within your $$ range.

I've also stayed at Las Casas de la Juderia and loved it.

We too were very pleased with our stay at the Dona Maria. The location is perfect. Our room was large (by European standards), had a great tiled bathroom, good closet/drawer space. The staff was pleasant and helpful, and the included breakfast was fine.

We stayed at the Novotel last year and really enjoyed it. It's very modern and even has a rooftop pool, which is fantastic after a day of sightseeing.

It's not right in the city centre, but not far (15-20 minute walk).

I liked Casa de los Mercaderes, a sister hotel to Juderia. Great location; lovely staff.

the amadeus was very convenient and nice. Have breakfast at one of the bars in the area

We also liked Casa de los Mercaderes. Excellent location. There was a woman who used to post here who used to work at this hotel but her name slips my mind. Solid 3 star hotel.

Alfonso XIII. Should be within your price range except for Semana Santa or Feria de abril time (non peak season). Great location and a 5-star deluxe Hotel in every aspect.

I have read about people using Hotel 'vouchers' there in off-season.

Don't be tempted to stay any place other than in the old quarter.

Another big vote for Las Casas de la Juderia.....a veritable classic...We had an enormous room, #10 on first floor. Full breakfasts are in an elegant dining room, and you're in the heart of the old Barrio Santa Cruz. Enjoy!

I just returned from my trip a couple of days ago and really liked the hotel we chose in Seville. We stayed at Hotel Alminar, a 12-room boutique hotel. They have a fantastic staff, and our room had a terrace from which we could see the cathdral lit up at night. Only 50 meters to walk to the cathedral! So you're right in the heart of things, close to the best sites and great food. But at the same time, you're also tucked away on a quiet side street. I highly recommend this hotel. $145 euro a night.

We have stayed at both the Casas de la Juderia and At Amadeus, and much prefer the Amadeus. That may be due to our predilection for smaller hotels. In any case, I agree with the recommendadtion to stay in the Barrio Santa Cruz.
