Hotels in Rome, Near the Spanish Steps

Hello! Looking for Hotels near the Spanish Steps. Hotel Art looks very interesting. Hotel de Russie looks amazing, but fairly expensive. Thanks in advance for your recommendations!

We stayed at the Hotel Condotti http://www.hotelcondotti.com/en/ in 2001 and found it a good location in the neighborhood at the bottom of the Spanish Steps.

I think it's better to stay at the bottom, than at the top!

We'll be staying two nights at Casa Howard in Rome (Via Capo le Case -- location near the Spanish steps) http://www.casahoward.com/eng/capo/introduction.htm

Haven't been there yet, of course, but was recommended by other Fodorites, so I have my expectations set high ;) !

It's usually also CHEAPER to stay at the bottom than at the top (at least the top part that has the view).

the Intercontinetal is nearby; the Hassler is at THE top (but if you thought the de Russie was "fairly expensive" the Hassler is NOT for you (old and tired IMO).

What about the Inn at the Spanish Steps?

We liked the Inn at the Spanish Steps; lovely rooftop terrace, very nice rooms, though the beds were a bit hard for me.

We've also stayed at the Inghilterra, just off Via Condotti, which we liked too; quite old though, and definitely worth getting a better than average room. They have a great restaurant with outdoor terrace, right opposite Fendi.

Hassler was a bit too old-fashioned for me, and too expensive.
I've seen Art, and thought it looked amazing too, but haven't seen the rooms. Compared to Art, the Inn and Inghilterra would seem a bit old-fashioned I suppose.

Can think of two which are atop of the Spanish Steps on the via Sistina and they are the four star, THE DE LA VILLE
with 189 rooms at via Sistina, 69 and
the three star, INTERNAZIONALE, with
37 rooms at via Sistina, 79, have stayed at both hotels over the years...
Suggest in both instances, get rooms awayu from street side due to the traffic noise on the via Sistina...
