Hotels in Rome
Does anyone recommend an affordable hotel near Spanish Steps, Piazza Navona area? Not cheap, but not outrageous either.

For pure luxury and great breakfast try the Hotel Rex, located on same street as the Rome Opera. 4 star and very, very nice. They have a web site, search for it.

You should really check out:

www.casahoward.com

We stayed there for a week and it was perfect! The rooms were wonderful (the Chinese room is rather small though) It was literally two blocks from the Spanish Steps, and three blocks from the Fountain Trevi. The staff was very pleasant.....I hope this helps! (oh, you can book online, but do it well in advance of you travel dates) Carey

Fasching--- I am planning to stay at the Hotel Forte on Via Margutta (popular for its antique shops) next February. It is very close to the Spanish Steps on a pedestrians-only area. They quoted me $90/triple includes breakfast and taxes. I'll tell you all about it upon return.

We stayed at Hotel Primavera, which is very close to Piazza Navona, a few weeks back and would recommend it. It cost 200,000 lira per night, which included breakfast. If you want the contact details, email me, because I don't have them with me right now. It appeared to be recently renovated, was well-heated (good at the time of year we visited), clean and the staff were friendly.
