Hotels in Rome

Can anyone recommend a hotel in Rome that is well located for walking to the major tourist attractions? We would ideally like to spend about $200 AUS a night. Thanks, Rick from Australia

Is this for 2 in the room? What time of year?

The Navonna/Pantheon/Fiori area is probably the most central.

For anyone else checking this thread $200AUD = $173USD = 120Euro

Hi Rick,

I would recommend the Hotel Giardino Rome. Nice, cozy, reasonable, Katie (owner) and staff are very helpful and welcoming. They answer e mails promptly. Great location, roughly between the Quirinale and Trajan's Market on via XXIV di Maggio. Should be near your budget. I was very happy there!

Buon viaggio!

After lots of research I kept coming across postings on trip advisor that said the hotel was good but staff were rude. So decided that maybe the most important thing was finding a place that had great staff and maybe compromise a bit on the room quality. A relative of Italian descent who is a regular traveller to Rome suggested we look at a B&B. I have never stayed at a B&B anywhere in the world before so I checked some out and have booked Bed and Breakfast Giovy. The location is amazing and reviews outstanding. We have had a very warm email from the owner so so far so good. Thanks all.

Over Xmas we stayed at the Albergo Cesari - just off Via del Corso, between the Pantheon and Trevi Fountain. We paid $185 for a double, with breakfast. Great location, very helpful staff, large room, good breakfast.

We were able to walk everywhere. The Pantheon is a 2 minute walk. Trevi Fountain is about 3 minutes. Depending on traffic (pedestrian and car), it took about 15+ minutes to get to the Roman Forum. Coming back from the Colliseum are (just beyond the Forum), we walked once and took a taxi once. Lots of shops and restaurants in the area.

I still need to put together a trip report. Will try to do that this week!
