The Hotel Majestic is on the Via Veneto, and people have different opinions about it, which you can read here by doing a search. Personally I'd be very happy to stay in that area again. For teenagers, there's a very good Internet cafe and the Hard Rock Cafe very close by (not that those represent Rome, but most teenagers like those). It would be easy to walk, take public transit, or take a cab to the sights.

Do you have an opinion about Ottocento or Cesari (see hotels i listed above) or forum, capo d'africa and grand hotel? I tried to e-mail the raphael, but the address is unknown. Thanks!

Add senato to that list! I want a nice hotel but in a good location.

you can't go wrong with the Senato! Loved that hotel, and I am picky! Lisa

Via Veneto? Depressing. Nothing going on there since the Dolce Vita era, i.e. circa 1960.

Nothing is distant in compact Rome but the Capo d'Africa is at the far end of that long street, a good trek from the Colosseum, in a neighbourhood that few first-time visitors would prefer to the historic centre....

debmc58:

Did you make your reservations?

How come no one has recommended Ponte Sisto?

Look at the reviews on here and on tripadvisor.com for that. It is in a GREAT area. We just loved it around there (it's near where we stayed). Try that!

Ponte Sisto looks good too! (More to add to my confusion!) I have reservations so far at Albergo Cesari, Albergo ottocento, capo d'Africa, Grand Hotel and Forum. The Forum and Grand are family rooms. I might be better off with 2 rooms for a family of 4 for 3 nights. Again, I would sacrifice sapce if the other locations (ex. forum) is great. I really do want to have a hotel with a restaurant or bar on a balcony to enjoy the view...and to not have to jump in a cab everytime i want to go somewhere.

I stayed in a great little place, Gea di Vulcana on Via Nazionale, just about 10 minutes walking from the Termini station, 20-30 minutes from the Colosseum and Trevi Fountain. Also great shopping on that street, and a terrific restaurant around the corner, Abruzzese. The Hotel had the most positive responses on Trip Advisor - breakfast included and a very comfy room. Enjoy!

Check out Hotel Lancelot near the colliseum and Residenza Canali near piazza navona. Both have rooms for four people.

Thanks. Lancelot looks great. I will check them out!
