Hotels in Rome
My husband and I are making our first, ever trip out of the U.S. First stop Rome. We want to be able to walk from our hotel to wherever. We're looking for clean, private bath, nice, but not too, too pricey.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Cindy. Not sure how inexpensive you want your hotel, but you should look into Hotel Due Torri. My wife and I heard about it here on Fodors and stayed there last November. It's affordable, in a great location (just north of Piazza Novona) and the staff are very helpful and friendly. Rooms are small, clean, and our room had a private bath.

Have a great trip.

Hi Cindy,
I have a few suggestions:

1) Casa Howard. It's a 5-bedroom guest house. Check out their site at www.casahoward.com

2) The Hotel Parlamento. This place had closed for renovations & the Italian gov't. called it a 4-star hotel at 2-star prices

3) The Hotel San Gregoriana. Formerly the residence of an aristocratic old Italian family, one of the rooms was actually the family chapel!

Buon Viaggio,
BC

P.S. All 3 of these places are a great central location. I last stayed in Casa Howard in January & can barely wait to return!

Dear Cindy, I have been researching a trip to Italy for a few months and found a hotel near the Vatican, three blocks from the pantheon, and five blocks from the spanish steps. Private baths with jacuzzi tub, air conditioning in all rooms. panoramic view from hotel restaraunt. Airport shuttle offered but a price was not listed it may be free as well as complimentary breakfast. The price for september is $119 for double occ. It is called hotel atlante garden you can find a picture gallery of it as well as some more information at hotels.com
