Hotels in Prague?
 

we will be making our first trip to Prague at the end of October/early November and am having trouble choosing hotels. Location is important as is price (max. of approximately $150-$200 including b'fast). at this point, we have identified the Renaissance, Cloister Inn, Hotel Metamorphis, and the Hotel U Prince. Any others to add? Any recommendations on which to choose? thanks,

We stayed at the Cloister Inn. Nice enough. Great location. If they would only change the freaken breakfasts... every day the same hot dogs they call sausage.

We stayed at U Prince for 4 days in June. The location can't be beat, right on the old town square, almost directly across from the astrological clock. The square is noisy and bustling pretty much 24 hours a day, with fantastic people watching. But be warned ... if you dine at any of the restaurants in this square, prepare yourself for mediocre food, so-so service, and outrageous prices. We could walk a block off the square to any one of dozens of little bars, and get a great Czech cold beer for 25% of the cost of any place on the square, with friendlier service.
The building and rooms at U Prince are beautiful, though our rate came to about $250/day, as I recall. Breakfast was included, but service in the restaurant was dismal ... very slow, and not at all friendly. The hotel staff was polite and professional, but not overly warm or helpful.
All things considered, I would probably not stay there again.

I stayed at the Hotel Maximilian just two weeks ago in Prague, and thought the location was ideal, just a block from the Old Town square. I also thought it was a great value for the money (I got a good deal thru expedia much less than rack rate).

They have a fantastic breakfast buffet included in the price, btw, which ended saving me quite a bit of money b/c I rarely needed to eat lunch after the big breakfast.

The U Prince is certainly well located right *on* the Old Town Square, but I never saw the inside of the hotel.

We stayed at the Renaissance. A standard business style hotel - not a lot of charm - but everything acceptable and a quite helpful staff - and in a prertty good location a couple of blocks from the Old Town. (We arrived around midnight and they no longer had bell staff available - apparently yhe only one on duty was having dinner or something - but one of the the security guards helped with our luggage.)

I would stay there again if the price is right.

would you consider using priceline...i did last fall and was very pleased with the results....marriott and renaissance are often about $100 +/-
