I would thoroughly recommend Hotel Villa Maria - http://www.hvillamaria.it/
This is a lovely hotel 10 minutes south of Pescara. It is set back from the sea on higher ground so it benefits from nice views and avoids the noise of the railway which is just a couple of blocks back from the beach so can be heard at night at those hotels near the shore line. The hotel has its own beach and there is a hotel bus which ferries people down and back.
A car would be recommended when visiting as this would enable you to see the wonderful hinterland of Abruzzo.
Finally less than 5 minutes walk from the hotel you can visit the winery of Pasetti - http://www.pasettivini.it/en/ They produce excellent wines and olive oil winning many awards.
