Hotels in Paris
 

I am looking for a suggestion for a hotel in Paris, possibly the 6th arrondisement. First "must" is clean, 2nd, a bit upscale and we would love if breakfast is included in the price. Thanks, Sobster

We love the Hotel de Varenne on rue de Bourgogne in the 7th. It is around the corner from the Rodin museum.

It is clean, very charming, lovely little outdoor terrace area and breakfast was 10 euros.

No one can give really useful suggestions w/o knowing your budget. There is "upscale" and then there is <B><blue>UPSCALE

Without knowing your budget and how many o f you there are it's hard to make suggestions. Also, I don;t understand a "bit upscale" - does that mean 4* versus 5*? Of does that mean a private bath and elevator versus stairs?

A budget would help just to make sure our idea of upscale is the same as yours, and buget. St Germain is an expensive area, some 3* hotels can cost over 300 euro a night.

hotel de l'Abbaye is a 4* that is upscale, rooms around 300-400 euro probably (they advertise breakfast is included)

Good point. Our budget would be 300 to 350 euros. My husband and I would need an elevator and I'm looking for a 4 star if that's possible on that "budget." Thanks for your suggestions so far.

We stayed here http://www.hotelluxparc.com/ and loved it. You want a superior room at least. The classic rooms are too small.

We recently returned from a wonderful 6-night stay at the Le Petit Paris Hotel, located in the 5th at 214 rue st. Jacques. I believe this hotel fits your requirements. We paid about 260 Euros per night for a superior room (granted it was discounted but they always have some sort of "sale" going on), they have an elevator, it is a boutique small 20-room hotel which is only a year and a half old and beautifully decorated. Yes, rooms are small, even the superior. But that seems to be the rule in all or most Paris hotels. Staff were fabulous, helpful and always around. 24/7 staffed, even though such a small place. We had breakfast included in our room rate because we stayed more than 5 nights but I believe they have discontinued that perk. Room has mini frig with drinks which are replenished daily free of charge. Water, coffee and tea are available in the lobby all day also free. There is an "honesty bar" in the lobby in the evenings with decent prices for drinks. WiFi works great and is also free.

I highly recommend it !! Also check out the tripadvisor comments, it is rated # 10.

Just across the border in the 5th is the Grand Hotel St Michel. Renovated about 3 years ago, modern and quiet it also has effective AC as we found when we stayed during a heat wave in the 90s fahrenheit. http://www.hotel-saintmichel-paris.com

We liked the location and the deluxe room was large enough to have a sofa as well.

I think it meets your criteria; I've stayed there many times, excellent breakfast but I don't think it is included in the price.

By staying in the hotel you also can " jump the queue" at their very good restaurant.

Any 3* hotel in Paris will have an elevator (it is required at that level if it is over a certain height, I forget, maybe two floors which all Paris central hotels are). All 2* Paris hotels I know of have elevators, also, it is also required above a certain height, just one floor higher than 3* or something, but this won't be an issue at your level.

Price depends on when you are going, also, but unless it is approx 7/15-8/31 (when hotel rates are often lowest), you aren't going to find a 4* hotel in St Germain at that budget very easily. YOu might if you book some special packages on their website and the cheapest room. For example, I think the h Abbaye has their cheapest room at 266 euro if you book more than 3 nights or something, I forget the details. I think the Relais St Germain has the cheapest rooms about that rate, also, so that's a good idea. But that price is more likely for a 3* hotel in that particular area just so you aren't surprised (or the cheapest room in a 4*). I would rather book a superior room in a 3* hotel than the cheapest room in a 4*, usually. I think the Luxembourg Parc is closer to 400 euro at the lowest rate (at least in peak season, like June or Sept).

I agree with Relais St Germaine suggestion. Have stayed their several times and location is first rate and the restaurant is the best in Paris. Yes the best in Paris.
