Keith Legge; Tony Hughes and anyone else who knows the Edinburgh south side- help please

I've had an email with a long list of addresses and requests for specific info which is beyond me. An email from anyone who knows the south side would help. The trip is early next month.

What do they want to know about the south side? I know the center and west end better but know a bit about the south.

My family used to live in the south side - Merchiston, Morningside then Newington (now Portobello) - but what is the info needed.

I am genuinely curious. You registered to help sheila - OK. But honestly -- how did you locate this 8+ year old thread? If you came in via google or some other search engine, this thread would not have popped up w/o using some very specific key words. Like maybe Merchiston? But even then - there must be hundreds of other hits before this one.

I'm not being snarky here -- I am just really curious about how this happens, how brand new folks (welcome aboard BTW ) find REALLY old threads.
